My name is Kevin Lendio, I’m a photographer and a creative based in the Philippines.
I was born the youngest of eight children, raised in the bustling city of Cebu. As a senior in high school, I started gaining interest in photography which soon led me to earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Advertising Arts at University of San Carlos. At 21, I left the comfort of my home and began residing overseas in pursuit of a career in photojournalism.
Growing up in a Christian home, I was brought to a series of mission activities around the world over the past years. I volunteered and worked very closely with people of diverse cultures in numerous countries on three continents. Part of my experience was documenting the lives and socioeconomic issues of the people around me.
Through this personal initiative, I developed a passion for visual storytelling that addresses the human struggles for equality, justice, and survival; I have gained a unique perspective of human existence and a motivation to tell people’s stories and life events through a creative lens.
In 2018, I flew to study in the States where I had an opportunity to work as a photo editor and photographer for the student news publications at Los Angeles Pierce College and as a contributor for Getty Images through my coverage of the wildfires in California. My work has appeared in digital publications such as the Associated Press, NBC News, and Lonely Planet.
I was awarded first runner-up to the 2020 Student Photojournalist of the Year award by the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles and was honored to participate in the 33rd Eddie Adams Workshop on the same year.
I also graduated with a Master’s in Biblical Studies at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California.
As I venture out into the forest of the untold, I’m willing to take risks to explore the underbelly of this world—our impermanent home.
